It’s Lawn Fertilization Time!
As the old saying goes, “March comes in like
a lion and out like a lamb.” You
wouldn’t think that spring is near, given the unusual March snow we’ve
experienced. March is the month that the
seasons change, and it’s a perfect time to fertilize your lawns and help your
garden grow.
Please contact your professional gardener,
local home and garden store, or nursery and ask which fertilizer is best for
your lawn. Everyone wants to see our
neighborhood’s lawns turn from yellow to green!
The sun is coming soon, so please do your part to fertilize and maintain
your lawn.
Neighborhood Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 30th
Get ready for the first Renaissance Ridge
Neighborhood Egg Hunt! It will take
place on Saturday, March 30th, at 10:00 am, near the
playground at 242nd and SE 11th. There will be two hunts: the first for
children ages 0 through pre-school, and the second for kids in kindergarten and
older. Teenagers can help hide the eggs
before the hunt begins.
In order to participate, you must sign-up
and deliver 12 filled plastic eggs per child by Wednesday, March 27th,
to Social Committee Co-Chair Janice Merdgen’s home (24023 SE 10th
ST, 425-369-2286). The eggs should
contain wrapped candy or non-edible toys. If you’re interested in helping hide the eggs
please call either Janice or Co-Chair Susan Barth (425-369-9069). The event is subject to rain.
Social Committee News
The Social Committee has been busy planning
fun events for the spring and summer.
Janice Merdgen, Co-Chair, announced at the Winter Meeting that in
addition to the egg hunt in March the committee is planning:
v TGIF picnic dinner in the parks every Friday
starting June 7th
v Fourth of July Parade
v Renaissance Ridge Days in August: Garage
sales on a Saturday, then an all-neighborhood barbeque on Sunday (if you have
supplies or services that can be donated please contact us)
v “Progressive Dinner” sometime in the autumn
months
In order for these
events to be successful, the Social Committee needs more volunteers! If you’re interested in helping Janice and
Susan coordinate these events, please contact the Homeowners Association.
Satellite Survey Results
Thank you to the 92 homes that returned the
satellite dish surveys in December. Eva
Gordon, Architecture Control Committee (ACC) Chair, announced the results at
the Winter Meeting. A wide range of
responses and opinions were received; there was no overwhelming majority of
those who wanted or did not want restrictions.
As the FCC has strict laws against
restricting the installation of satellite dishes, the Renaissance Ridge
Homeowners Association (RRHOA) will not be enforcing the vague restrictions in
the CC&Rs. However, the RRHOA strongly
encourages that if you install a satellite dish please:
While it is your right to install satellite dishes, as
governed by the FCC, we ask that you do whatever you can to hide and/or limit
the visibility of them to help reduce their impact on the look of the
neighborhood.
Clarification on Parking Rules
The January Renaissance Ridge Report quoted the CC&Rs section about parking restrictions, and said that it is a high priority of the Board to enforce these rules. Katherine Hall and Brett Waldbaum reported at the Winter Meeting that attorneys have been consulted to clarify the CC&Rs, and it appears that the rules regarding driveway and street parking cannot be enforced by the HOA.
Street parking
laws are enforced by the City of Sammamish, and the police may be contacted if
vehicles are illegally parked (on the sidewalk, wrong direction, etc). For the safety of pedestrians and
children at play, as well as for the aesthetic appearance of the
neighborhood, the HOA strongly encourages homeowners to park their vehicles in
the garage at all times. Please
ask your guests to park in your driveway before parking on the street.
Attention Renaissance Ridge Women: You’re Wanted for
BUNCO!
Ladies, want a night out to play games and
meet the other women in the neighborhood?
Join a Bunco group! Renaissance
Ridge currently has two organized Bunco groups.
Each meets monthly, one on Thursday nights and one on Saturday nights. Bunco is a fun, easy to learn dice game. To join the Thursday night team, please
contact Tammy Steciw at 425-837-5462. To
join the Saturday night team, please contact Susan Barth at 425-369-9069. Substitute players are also needed. You can contact Tammy or Susan if you’re
interested in starting your own Bunco group.
Coming Soon: Neighborhood Web Site
The Renaissance Ridge neighborhood web site is currently under construction. Brett Waldbaum announced at the Winter Meeting that the web site will provide news, events, contact information, rules, meeting minutes, and a password-protected section that will contain the neighborhood roster and a free for-sale section. Businesses will have the opportunity to advertise on the web site, and homeowners will have a reduced rate for advertisements.
If you’re
interested in joining the Web Committee to help provide technical information
or content suggestions, please contact the Homeowners Association.
Maintenance Reminders
v Please remove the wooden posts next to
trees in your yard if they have been there longer than a year and a
half. Cut the wire arms and remove the
wooden posts to let the tree continue to grow unhindered and to prevent tree
damage from the rings.
v If you have an orange television cable
tube still visible on your lot, please call AT&T Broadband
(1-800-215-7788) and ask for the engineering department to cover the
tubes. They were waiting for
construction to be completed, and now that it has they will cover the tubes
upon request from the homeowner.
v Some homes in the neighborhood have wooden
siding, and the paint on some is beginning to peel. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to
maintain the exterior paint of the home; if your home is peeling please
re-paint it.
v Polygon has no new homes remaining to be sold!
v At the end of SE 10th there is a new development under construction called Wyndham Court. 17 homes, priced between $375K and $475K, are being built. They are a separate neighborhood, not part of Renaissance Ridge.
v Some homeowners have been contacting Board members directly at home. Please be respectful of your neighbor’s privacy and contact the Board using the phone number given below.

v · Renaissance Ridge welcomes its newest neighbor, Savannah Lee Jackola, born on February 8th at 5:45 am. She weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces, and is a delight for her proud, new parents Jim and Kim Jackola (24011 SE 11TH PL).
v · Wendy Lam and Michael Tam (24008 SE 12TH PL) were married on January 12th. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
Please contact the Homeowners Association if you are interested in volunteering. The Social Committee and Web Committee needs more members for the remainder of the term (through August).
