Renaissance Ridge Report

The Renaissance Ridge Homeowners Association Newsletter

April 2002

New Web Site and E-mail Address!

Can’t wait for the next newsletter?  Want to hire a neighborhood kid to baby-sit or mow your lawn?  Want to know what architectural changes need to be approved by the ACC?  Find out all of this information and more at the new Renaissance Ridge Homeowners Association web site!  The URL is: http://www.rridge.org.  In addition, we also have a new general e-mail address: hoa@rridge.org (the Yahoo address will be phased out).  There are also special e-mail addresses for the board members and committees, like president@rridge.org, acc@rridge.org, and social@rridge.org.   They are all listed on the web site.

If you have ideas or suggestions about the new web site please contact webmaster@rridge.org.   Some of the pages are still under construction, including the password-protected pages and neighborhood directory, so keep checking back to see what’s new and improved.  A big thank you goes to Brett Waldbaum, HOA Secretary, for creating and maintaining our new web site and e-mail accounts!

Want to Advertise Your Business on rridge.org?

The HOA is now accepting applications to advertise businesses on the new rridge.org web site.  You can post a link to your company’s web site for $30/year, or a link plus a business-card size picture for $90/year.  Renaissance Ridge homeowners get a special, discounted rate: $20/year for a link or $50/year for a link plus picture.  It’s a great way to advertise your business to the 300 homes in our neighborhood!  For more information please visit http://www.rridge.org/ads.htm or send e-mail to ads@rridge.org.

Keep That Front-Yard Grass Lookin’ Green!

As mentioned in previous newsletters, the new, homeowner-lead Board of Directors has vowed to enforce the rules outlined in the Conditions, Covenants, and Restrictions (CC&Rs).  This spring one of the major areas of focus is front-yard lawn maintenance.  There is nothing more than an unkept or dead front lawn to bring the appearance of the neighborhood down.  In order to assure that all neighbors are doing their part and maintaining their front lawn (as described in the CC&Rs, Article IX, Section 1), the board will conduct regular walk-throughs this spring.

If your front lawn is green but not being mowed or maintained then it will be mowed for you, without notice, and you will be responsible for the bill.  If your front lawn is brown or dead then you have until June 1st to bring it back to life.  If it is not green and does not look well-maintained then a monthly fine will be imposed beginning June 1st.  Please fertilize, mow, or hire a professional landscaper to help bring it back to life to avoid being fined.  With everyone’s help we’ll have a great-looking neighborhood this year!

Hungry For Pizza?

There is a one-year-old child in the neighborhood who suffers from juvenile diabetes.  His family has arranged with Papa John’s pizza to have 20% of the money from all orders made on Friday, May 17th, to be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).  Just mention “JDRF donation” when you call or walk in to any of the 32 Puget Sound-area Papa John’s and the money will be donated.  The fundraiser takes place all day, and coupons are accepted.  For more information about JDRF visit www.jdrf.org.

Other News & Reminders

v     The Neighborhood Egg Hunt on March 30th was a huge success!!  58 kids participated and searched for 600 hidden eggs.  Thank you to Janice Merdgen and Susan Barth, Social Committee Co-Chairs, and to all the other volunteers and participants for making this such a fun event!

v     The crackdown on backyard landscaping violations this spring has been successful; most of the homeowners who had violated the rule about landscaping the rear yard within 120 days have now landscaped, and the few who have not are being fined monthly.  Kudos to the Board for enforcing this rule, and thank you to the homeowners for creating great-looking backyards!

v     Please make sure to submit an application to the ACC along with the $5.00 application fee if you’re planning on building anything outdoors this spring.  What does and does not need to be approved is described on the web site.  If you have questions please send email to acc@rridge.org or call the HOA at the phone number given below.

v     The Board has adopted a strict policy about posting signs in the Common Areas (neighborhood entrances, parks, etc).  Per Article XII, Section 8, of the CC&Rs, nobody is allowed to post signs in these areas.  The Board is allowing temporary, small “A-frame” signs that are not left in the Common Areas overnight.  Any sign planted in the Common Areas or left overnight will be promptly removed.
